Can I change fonts and wording? Can I
add new policies, and delete policies that do not apply to my business?
Yes, the document is 100% editable in every way; You have control over all
format and content.
It is customized by changing bracketed words to reflect words specific to
your organization. For instance, where you see "[Company Name]", you will
need to insert your company name. (This is easily done with "Find
and Replace").
You will also inevitably want to delete phrases, or change
the wording of some policies to suit your organization;
you will need to update the table of contents.

How long will it take to edit?
We know of some companies who were able to edit our employee handbook
template in one-half
hour. However, the time it takes you to be "print-ready" is dependant upon
your word processing skills and the number of changes you
find necessary.
We can also help you with the editing:

Upon purchase, will I download the employee
Handbook? How will I receive
it?
When our credit card processor confirms (via email) the
successful transaction, we then email you the file containing the
Employee Handbook. We guarantee delivery of templates within one
business day. However,
handbooks are typically emailed within minutes of credit card approval.
-
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, Master Card, and American Express.
(If you are not comfortable with on-line transactions, feel free to call
888-215-8532 and we will be happy to take you order over the phone.)
-
Are your employee handbooks compliant with federal and
state laws?
HRIT has obtained a general federal legal review our
employee handbook templates.
However, employers are
advised to seek review of all company policies with their own legal
counsel. It would be poor advice if anyone advised you not to have
your own attorney review your Employee Handbook after you have customized
it, prior to distribution. Your attorney can review the
document and inform you of state
policy that differs from
federal
policy.

What do you recommend in terms of integrating an
Employee Handbook after we have finished customizing it?
Schedule run-through meetings with each level of management. What
would be great is if each leader facilitates the training session with direct reports; the HR manager should always be present during
these sessions to bail out managers who get cornered with a tough
question.
You may want to consider inviting us to your
office to facilitate an employee handbook training session for your
administrative and management staff.
We believe training on "managing with the employee handbook" is one of the best returns on investment you will get in regards to
management and administrative training. It is "Sunday School" for business.
We are used to the type of feedback and discussion generated
in this type of meeting, and are confident we can provide a clear understanding of the policies, address "touchy" subjects such as absenteeism with logical and meaningful feedback, and even create an enthusiasm about using the
employee handbook as a management tool.
The cost of on-site service is $1100.00 per
day plus travel expenses; Call 1-888-215-8532 for more
information.
Do not underestimate the value of conducting an annual training/discussion session that covers the employee handbook cover to cover.

Have the Spanish translations been
reviewed by a bi-lingual attorney?
This is an important question; the answer is No. Our English versions
are reviewed by attorney's specializing in employment law at least once
every six months; the Spanish versions are certified TRANSLATIONS of our
English Versions. HRIT Inc. does not have any Spanish-speaking
employees. We have posted two sample pages of our employee handbook, one
in English and the other in Spanish, for you to study the quality of
translation, and make an informed decision.

I've seen several terms in my search for
this product, namely Employee Manual, Employee Handbook, Company
Handbook, and Company Policy Manual, is
there a difference?
No. Calling an Employee Handbook an Employee
Manual, Company Handbook, or Company Policy Manual, seems to be a title
preference not a distinguishing title. So whichever term you use, Employee Handbook, Employee Manual, Company Handbook, or
Company Policy Manual, it's up to you.
With that said, the term
Procedures Manual is
sometimes referred to in the same manner as an Employee Manual, but it should not. Many folks
complicate the process of developing an employee handbook by including
procedures in them. This topic requires more space than what we want
to devote in this section, but to sum up the point, an employee handbook
should be directive and work-life in nature; leave out detailed procedures
(such as how to handle certain customer situations, or specific job
requirements); they belong in a Procedures Manual or Job Description.
